I think that the most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. When people are talking, there's no need to do a ______ but receive them. Listen to what they're saying. Most times letting someone talk is more i _______ than understanding it.

  When I was teaching in a middle school, one of my s ______ told me that sometimes when she tried to tell her story, people often interrupted (打断) to tell her that once had something just like that h ______ to them. Many people with cancer can talk about the relief (安慰) of having someone just listen.

  Because of different reasons, I could neither go abroad nor attend a language course to improve my English. So, I finally (1)d_____  to read books in English. I chose Irving’s novel A widow for One Year.

  What was my experience (2)l______ ? Very challenging! At the beginning, I tried to stop thinking in Chinese about (3)w  ______   I was reading. I just kept reading instead of looking up the new words in the dictionary. At first it seemed to be 4)i  ______   to read and understand without using a dictionary, but then I began to get the meaning (5)s_____  . Finally, I was so interested in the wonderful characters and the surprising plot of the novel (6)t_____   I completely forgot that I was reading the book in English.

This made me feel really satisfied and encouraged me to read (8)m______   other books (not only by Irving). I discovered that when you read a book in English you will stop thinking in your mother tongue at some point.   Reading Irving’s novel also enabled me to learn a large (10)n______   of new words and expressions used in different contexts. It is really a good way to improve our English.

Smiling is the most peaceful language in the daily life.

One Sunday morning, I decided to buy a computer to use for my school. I went to the biggest store in town, which sells all k  _______  of computers. Our eyes can carry much meaning clearly. So it is often said that eyes can speak. Do you have such a k______   of experience? In a bus you may look at a stranger, but not too long. Do you know why different animals or pests have their special colors? Colors in them seem to be mainly u____   to protect themselves.
